Digital Natives Vs. Digital Immigrants

A lot of people believe that if you are a digital native you are supposed to know everything about the digital media because after the 1980’s people grew up with technology around them, while digital immigrants are classified as not being able to understand as well as them. Digital rhetoric allows some people to avoid responsibility in some cases. In the article “It’s complicated the social lives of networked teens” by Danah Boyd the author states that young people need to search throughout the Internet so they can fully understand it. She argues that all the technology had changed people lives, and those who were born with the technology around them are digital natives, on the other hand those who adopted the fascinating ideas through the use of Internet are digital immigrants.
